"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God (Christians) may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." -2 Timothy 16-17
"Don't judge me! It's God's job to judge. There's only one judge. Leave the judging to God!"
How many times have we said or heard those things said? About a billion. (Like nails on a chalk board to me!)
Yes, God is Thee Judge. He has the ultimate & final say.
-Acts 17:31 "For he (God) has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man (Jesus) he has appointed. He (God) has given proof of this to everyone by raising him (Jesus) from the dead.”
-1 Peter 4:5 "But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead."
-Revelation 20:12 "The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books."
-Revelation 3:19 "Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent."
BUT ALSO...
The Bible talks again & again about how we (Christians) are to hold each other accountable. The Bible tells us to accept & heed correction. Paul wrote multiple letters to the churches to correct & rebuke them for their actions. He didn't want them to sin. He didn't want them to stray.
-Proverbs 15:31 "Whoever heeds life-giving correction will be at home among the wise."
-Proverbs 9:8 "Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you."
So it sounds to me like a smart person likes to be told when they are acting out of line, like a jerk, or inappropriately. But an arrogant, non believing person will get mad at you & call you names.
Hmmmm...think on that the next time you get called out for something.
Have you ever had an accountability partner? Someone who helps you get motivated to work out, eat better, stay sober, not spend carelessly? Yes, you have. You may be married to them, related to them, or call them friend. That is the person(s) God placed in your life to keep you in line. To keep you walking on the right path, His path. So when they call you out for something, don't automatically react or reply with a harsh word or action. Chances are they love you & want you to act right. Act according to His ways, not Worldly ways. Try thanking them.
Accepting correction is a great way to start understanding that His ways are better than our ways. No matter how much the truth hurts, or irritated we are by it, we must be willing to listen to it so we can more fully obey God. So we can be more like Christ. It's not that the person who is correcting you is Judging you; they are loving you & obeying Him. They want you to do the same.
-2 Timothy 4:1-5 "In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word;be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry."
